Hey, friend, welcome back to ADHD Owned, an ADHD Entrepreneurs podcast. So the last episode we talked about consistency is key, the thing we often hear in the business world, and well in life, too. And I challenged that belief and how I don't quite subscribe to that anymore, because it's not very realistic for me. So I want to talk a little bit about how I do this with my business. The last episode talked a little bit about home life. So today, we're gonna talk about consistency with your business. And this is something that I get asked often, and also something that I noticed, when everyone is picking out their word of the year, every ADHD, or almost always, we'll want to pick consistency, because we're just so not good at it. And this is actually a very big fault of ours, when it comes to like all aspects of our life, right. But when it comes to our business, it really does affect us. So some examples of that is like not being consistent with your social media or with your marketing. Like how many of you guys get so excited about putting out content, and you do so well for like a week or two. And then after that, it's just completely gone, then you go like a whole month or two of not posting. So that's something that's super common for the ADHDer. And it's funny how sometimes, like, there's people that I follow that I really love their content, and I see them go like all in, and then they go months without ever posting again, and then they come back. And it's just like this whole cycle, right? That is one of the things that like social media marketing in general, is really hard for us to be consistent on. So here's something that I do for my business that honestly has liberated me so much, is really just not subscribing to the whole, like I must be consistent. Because that's just not possible for me. And also something that I don't even like, want to do, it's a priority of mine that I don't want to prioritize. Basically, what I do is I try to pick some of the top things that does matter to me if I show up consistently too. So for me, I try to pick like two or three areas in my business that I say, okay, these are the ones that really mean a lot to me, are important, give me the most advantage if I am consistent, and the ones that I think I could actually do the most right? So I pick those and those are the ones that I prioritize when I'm having a very low energy day, and I don't feel like doing anything, then I will still show up to those places. Like even if it's like half assed, right? Even if it's just a little bit or if I'm reposting something, like it doesn't have to be full on. I mean, some days, I just don't even do it. And that's the beauty of it, it's fine. For me, consistency is not a rule, it's not even an expectation. It's a suggestion, I look at my to do list, not as like you have to complete these things. And if you don't, you're a horrible human. But I look at it as a suggestion list. These are suggestions for what I could do today. But if my brain decides something else is better, and it actually is better, and I allow it, then it's totally cool. I will get those other things done tomorrow or whenever that's just kind of how I approach my business a bit. It's all about what works for me and not just doing something for the sake of being quote unquote consistent. Also, it's not possible for you to be consistent with everything right. That's why I like to choose two to three things that I'm going to commit to that I'm going to be consistent with. For example, if I'm going to post on social media for like the longest I was posting five days a week, and that was my commitment to myself. That is how I was staying consistent. But what happens if I did have a really low energy week or just something I got sick or something went on, then I would lower to three times a week and then I'd just be a bit more active in my stories or it'd be more active in my DMs or I would try to compensate for it without it like sacrificing my energy too much. Those are some things that you can do, I know that you're going to keep hearing consistency is key everywhere, and people are going to tell you, you should be selling 10 emails a month, and you should be posting every day. And you should be posting multiple times a day. And you should be following up with every single lead that comes in your DMS and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, and all of those in a perfect world, it would be great behind you. And I know that that's not how things kind of roll for us. So I just like to pick here my top that I'm going to try to stay consistent. But I'm still flexible, I still have a lot of grace for myself, and I allow myself to get what I need. So if I really need rest that week, then guess what rest is a priority. And then that's what I become consistent and committed to with our ADHD, like, I'm sure you've noticed, but too much structure and it being rigid, that is the worst for us. That is exactly how you can get us to not ever want to do something ever again, if you give us way too much structure, and there's way too much rules, and you have to get it done. If that is how you're running your business, I can tell you right now, you will not be running your business in the next two years, because you're just gonna burn out like it's a recipe for disaster really. So we really have to find structure, but flexibility, meaning I structure my day from these are my office hours, I write up my to do list. And I have structure to my day. I have certain habits. But I also allow freedom and flexibility. So if it's not going to work out, like if I have all these things on my to do list, and actually I'm like, You know what, I think I need to pursue this grand idea I just got, and I have the time and energy to do it, then I will go there. And I'll say eff my to do list for the day. Or if I'm just feeling really hyper or jittery and like sitting on my computer is just like not the vibe, then I will go outside, I'll call a friend and we'll go get some food or I'll take myself to a coffee shop, like maybe I need a change of environment, there's flexibility in it. So that way my brain doesn't feel like it's constricted. And it doesn't have a choice, when your brain feels like it doesn't have a choice, guess what, that's when the rebel comes out. So we want to like still have structure but make our brain feel like it's still in control. And it can still do as it would want. So that's some of my tips for consistency. I saw this quote somewhere. And I can't remember where I saw it. But they talked about consistency over persistence. So they talked about like, I can't be consistent. So consistency might not be key for me. But I am persistent. And I can be persistent. And I really liked that because it's true. Like I feel like us as ADHD errs. We are super persistent when it comes to things, especially if it's something we love, like our business. So I'm persistent in making this work. I'm persistent and showing up and making an impact and keeping on top of my marketing for the most part, but I may not be consistent with it. But I still have the desire, the motivation, the drive to get it done once I'm in a place where I can get it done. So maybe that rings true for you. Maybe you don't have to shoot for consistency anymore. But maybe just shoot for persistence. Be persistent. Like okay, this post didn't go as well, well, let's see what we can do better about it, you know, or Okay, the sales call did not go as planned, or they didn't sign up, even though I thought they would, let's see where I can go better. Like I would literally rewatch some of my training videos and take notes just to see where I can improve. Like being persistent to giving my clients a badass experience, and making sure that what I'm teaching is actually doing something for them, right? I don't know, I really like that. And I can subscribe to persistence because it's something I have. It's something I don't have to tell myself to do. I just am persistent when it comes to my business. Now, do I have off days, of course. And by the way, every single entrepreneur and especially ADHD entrepreneurs, will have moments where we'll be like, Oh, I should I even do this anymore. Like, I should just close up shop and find something else to do, I should just get a nine to five. Because entrepreneurship can be heavy and hard and challenging, too. It challenges us to be a better version of ourselves. So if you like find yourself having those thoughts, don't be ashamed of that. They're completely normal and they're just your brain trying to protect you have the stress or burden or heaviness that you're feeling from your business. And if you've noticed you usually only have these thoughts when you're in a really bad mental place like when you're just one of those like you're already cranky, and throwing fits for other things. Like your brain just gets in this vibe and it just starts complaining about everything right? I've only found that when I'm having a hard time or you know what, even when I'm on my menstrual cycle, I find that I have that thought more often, but I had to learn like realize and remind myself that it doesn't mean anything. It's okay. Like, I've just being a big baby. And it's okay, tomorrow, I will wake up and be like, whoo, let's go. And then I'll be super excited about my business again. But I will say, if you're having those thoughts or bit way too often, then that is definitely a red flag or your cue that you need to switch things up. Because that shows me that the way you're running your business is not aligning to like, your brain, your body, your needs. Or maybe you're not doing something that you're really passionate about, maybe it's like the thing that you're doing, like, maybe that's not the right one. So really dig deep to figure out like, Why do I feel this way, when we start to resent our business, oh, man, this is like a very big red flag. And you do not want to get to that point. Because when we start resenting something, it's really hard to switch that around. And why do we start resenting something? Typically, because you have gone outside of your boundaries, you have not respected your brain or your body, your needs, your self cares, probably like minimum to zero, and you're running your business perfectly for somebody else to run, oh, I say this to my clients all the time, like, girl, you built an amazing business for somebody else to run for a neurotypical to run. But for you, you did not set this up for you, you set this up for someone else. And why did that happen? Because we watch what other people are saying we take their advice, people are saying, well, you need to wake up really early in the morning, if you're going to be an entrepreneur and get the money or whatever. And we build out these businesses that are not meant for us to run, they're meant for somebody else, because we're taking in all of this and neurotypical advice, or just advice that works for other people, but doesn't align for us. And then we end up creating a nine to five for ourselves, yikes. Right? We all tried to escape that and have more freedom, and then we end up creating something that is very restricted. And then we're kind of screwed, because it's what provides us you know, a way of living, right, so we kind of have to keep going, you don't want to fall under that, my friend, trust me. So today, I want you to really observe, watch your business, listen to your body and how it feels during certain things. Like, if you find that you are always hesitant to do certain things in your business, like a certain task, or you just find yourself that you don't want to do things, it makes your stomach curl, it gives you anxiety, like all of those are signs that that is something that you either need to outsource, you need to minimize, or you need to just like find ways where you can make it easier for your brain to do and not completely freak out over. So really just observe yourself, what are the parts of your business that are causing you like that stress that hindrance? What are those things, maybe things that you are not able to be consistent with. So I want you to figure those out. And then I want you to also try to think of two to three main areas that you think I can commit to being consistent to this, some of my tips of picking the best ones for that it's going to be to pick things that are actually going to produce income for you, okay, you don't want to pick like, oh, I'll just commit to making all the beautiful graphics with beautiful fonts and everything. If you don't really believe that those are going to help you make more money, right? It has to be something that's moving the needle for your business, at least one of those things has to be that the other two can be like other supportive things that will help with that. So for example, mine are my content, I'm committed to my content. And I'm committed to showing up for my clients. That's another big one that I found it hard. But when I committed to this, and really looked at the why this is important for me and helped me stay committed to it. And then actually, those are my two right now. You can always change them, you can always add them, it's totally up to you. But I want you to think about those things. And if you have found that the way you've been running your business and the way things have been going for you, you just find that you have maybe even lost a passion for what you were doing. It just is starting to feel like a job and it's lost its excitement and you really feel like you don't know how to move past that. Then you need to find some support, you need to find a really good ADHD business coach that can help you with that. Currently, I am running a mastermind program. It's going to be five months with seven to eight badass entrepreneurs. And we're going to walk through the five areas of business to really thrive in your business with your ADHD. So the whole first month is all about your ADHD. And everything is really tailored for the ADHD brain. Like I wouldn't want someone that does not have ADHD to go through this. I mean, sure, they could get some things out of it, but it's really tailored to the ADHD brain. So that's really who this is going to be best for. And we're going to go through managing your ADHD naturally, like some of the systems and strategies to use that I use, and my clients have loved using as well. And then we're gonna go through some of the core business foundations and business strategies like that's where we're really going to make sure that the way you're running your business, the way you've set it up, is really designed for it to meet your needs. And for you to run it. Of course, as well as going through your messaging, your elevator pitch, like how you're structuring your offers, and making sure you're not burning out from them. Ad steers tend to over deliver that is what I've always found. So yeah, we're going to really crunch on all of those things. And then of course, including and implementing marketing, and making sure that you're structuring your marketing to meet your like empathetic heart. None of those like bro marketing strategies, ill, that's not I preach against those so much. So you may find that there's a lot of different advice that I'm going to share. That is not what everyone else is sharing. And that's because we're different. And that's what we need. So, yeah, my mastermind is really awesome. I'm actually really proud and excited for this curriculum. It's my favorite curriculum that I've written to the moment, it's kind of taking the best parts of all of my other curriculums, and then some more, so it's going to be really awesome. The goal is for everyone there to be able to grow and scale to eight to 10k months. So it's best for someone who's already kind of at that three to 5k months, Mark, and you're kind of feeling plateaued and stuck there. I was stuck there for months. And I didn't know how to help myself until I hired two coaches, I like nailed down my marketing, I dialed down on so many different things. And I literally just exploded and my income went from like a steady 4k a month to now 10k plus a month. And it's really awesome. And also during those months, they were not heavy months, some of those, I really only work like 10 hours a week, and I was still hitting that. So I'm going to teach you and show you how to do that. Anyways, that is my mastermind. It is open now you have to fill out an application just to make sure that it really is a good fit for you. It's quick though, don't worry. So you can find that link in the show notes. And if you join the waitlist, you'll get some emails of more info about it. But you'll also get $1,200 in savings. So right now the full ticket price is 10k. But if you go through the waitlist then right now it's only at 8800. So make sure you think about it, you go through the page and really read through it. You could also DM me and ask me any questions you have about it. So I may be promoting it on my social media a lot. I may do one more podcast episode, not about that. But you may hear it there, but then you won't hear it again. And I probably won't be running another round until later this year, or possibly next year, I haven't decided. But when I do, it's going to be three times what it's worth now. So we're looking at 15k and up. So I really urge you to think about it now. Like you don't have to keep buying all of those courses. And going through the YouTube tutorials and going through the headaches and trying to figure out what to do in your business. You've already done that for months, haven't you and it has not gotten you where you're at. So that's really your cue and your sign that you need some outside support, the mastermind is going to be perfect for you if that's where you're at. And you're also looking for a group community, it's going to be really awesome in that aspect. That's kind of the whole point of a mastermind versus a group program. It's going to be smaller, you still get one on one help from me, but you also get the group aspect. And the mastermind portion is that we all kind of feed off of each other. And we all kind of learn and support each other. So that's really awesome. Co-working sessions are also included. Okay, I'm done about that. So anyways, check the show notes. If you are interested in that I only have like I said seven spots. And I already have some people who have filled out the application so I do not expect it to stay open for very long. And no this is not just like a marketing thing that people say seriously, my programs tend to sell out pretty quickly. So I would not wait if I were you. But if you are saying Jessie, I really think that I could use a lot of your teachings but I probably can't afford that at the moment then I have my membership for you, which is equally as great. And when you join you get access to like six mini courses all made easy for your brain. So I have lots of business structures and ADHD stuff in there. So you might love that too. And that's in the show notes as well. The squirrel printers society and that one's only $47 a month. So we have about 140 Women in there and they are awesome. Okay, so that is it. I hope this was helpful for you. Remember, not consistency but persistence and you want to make sure that you are structuring and setting up your business for the way you should be running it the way that works best for you. Okay, that is it. I'll see you at the next one. Bye.
