Hey, welcome back to ADHD Owned, an ADHD Entrepreneurs podcast. So today, I have an episode, a quick one about how to align your business to your brain. So this is something that is almost an afterthought for a lot of people, even after they've discovered that they have ADHD, we tend to spend a lot of time trying to learn the way our ADHD manifests in our life, you know, being able to pinpoint and label things like oh, my ADHD is the culprit of that. And it's kind of really easy to see it once you know what you're looking for. But it can also be pretty toxic, because then you like, if I were to tell you look for a red Chevy, that's what you're going to be seeing all around you for a while, right? Because your brain is focused on looking for that thing. So when your brain focuses on seeing, trying to see your ADHD in your life, you end up finding and seeing it a lot. And this can really overwhelm you because then you're like, Oh, my God, Am I really that ADHD? Like, how did I live all these years this way? And why didn't No one find out and I'm doomed forever. These are just some of my own thoughts I even had for a long time. But it can be really toxic that type of thinking, because then we start to solely focus on how much we quote unquote suck, and how much our ADHD is like the Villanova story, how much our ADHD really gets in the way. And what we don't or don't think about focusing on is looking for not only the ways that our ADHD is showing up, because I do admit, that is very important for you to know, self awareness is always key, but not getting stuck there. The second part of that is going okay, so this is how my ADHD brain works. This is what I tend to do. These are my patterns, these are the behaviors I see, these are my struggles. Now, what are the things that can help me support my brain? Because your brain does need some support, okay? It needs someone to help guide it. You can't just leave your brain by itself trying to figure things out by itself, and then be like, Wow, you're an idiot, how could you not handle that? It's like, well, you didn't support your brain, you didn't even try to make sure that it could be aligned and that it could thrive. So it's just really complicated when you, well, at least it's complicated for me when I see my friends or I see people that I really care about that are just so focused on pointing out their ADHD but not focused on how to support their brain. And that means trial and error in a lot of things. That means trying out all the different ADHD hacks that you hear about, and seeing which ones do work for you. And also realizing that some of the ones that work for you now won't work for you later. And some of the ones that are working for you now won't work for you later. Wait, did I say that twice? Yeah, I meant to say that the ones that don't work for you now will work for you later. That's what it was. Because like in the beginning, I thought to do lists were like the most laughable thing I'm like, You really think of to do lists is going to help me like Do you know how many times I've tried to sit in to do a to do list and then you know many times I've lost that to do lists. You know how many times I have overcomplicated it, forgotten things I should have put on they're just not even gone back to it like to do lists do not help. And I remember looking at my counselor, like are you kidding me? That's the advice that you have for me. And you know what, two years later and I swear by my to do list. I even created my own planner because it really actually helps me. So at that time, I was just not ready to be able to implement to-do lists. I'm ready for it. Now. I do it. Now I saw the value. I saw how it could be helpful. So just don't knock it till you try it is what I'm saying. And you know what, when all of your coping mechanisms are not working, then just circle back to some of those ones that you said would never work for you because maybe they work for you now you never know. So in order for you to be able to align your business to your brain and I want to talk about weight First, let's talk about what that even freaking means. Okay, because so many of us have created these businesses based off of what we learned in courses, training freebies, watching other entrepreneurs that we look up to, we've tried to model our business to like the strategies that they're using, right? Because if they saw success, surely we can see success. And we've bought the books, and we're trying to do all of that. And then we find ourselves not seeing the same results that they saw, and being really frustrated, and like seeing it hit our self esteem and our confidence in ourselves, because we're not getting the same results. And we're like, Well, what am I doing wrong? Am I broken? And my stupid, right, and this is dangerous, because what works for one person may not work for you may not work for others. And this is what I find is a vast majority of what a lot of ADHD entrepreneurs have experienced, is even investing in these really expensive programs. That promise a one system if you just follow our system, and you just do this, and this and this, and you will get all the results that all of these testimonials on this sales page tell you you can get and then you go into the program, you do it verbatim, as they say, and you see everyone else getting results. But then you're like, why is it not working for me? Why is it so hard for me to do that? Why is no one else talking about how hard it is? Like, is it easy for everyone? Is it just hard for me? Okay, I went through this, and I hear this happening to ADHD entrepreneurs all the time, even today. And it's a really big problem. Now, I think it's very easy for us to quickly go into blaming, like the course creator or the person that is hosting the program. And I also don't think that's fair, because it's really hard to create something a system that could work for everyone. And I think that there is a lot of MIS education and lack of education, to teaching things in a way that helps the different learning styles, and also helps you know, when you have a neurodivergent student and when they're going to require a need some more accessible different things, when some programs just are not set up for that like one on one potential tailoring, but others are. And a lot of people just don't even have the tools to be able to help neurodivergent people, right. And this is an issue, but it's also something that we need to learn to like be able to pinpoint in programs and pinpoint like, would this help me and sometimes when programs don't talk about the how they get you to that result, which I hate because of how it's so important for me, you have to ask, you have to send out the email, send out the DM and ask them what is the how, because I know the way my brain works. And so if you're going to tell me that I have to cold dm 30 people a day, then I'm going to be asking for a refund. Because that's not attainable for me not and not in alignment with who I am. Okay. So you really need self awareness, self awareness is key to be able to understand and figure out what are those strategies that are going to help you? What are the strategies that are going to be pivotal for your business and foundational for the way you run your business, if you don't have self awareness, and you can't even start doing that you're just going to be emulating what you're seeing other people do, and then being frustrated that you're not getting those results. Okay. So once you have self awareness, and you've been able to pinpoint what are the things, the patterns, the tendencies, the needs, that you have some of the behaviors that you are constantly seeing some of the areas that you know, that you really need some more support in once you have an idea of that, then you can work on troubleshooting, problem solving some strategies that can work for you. And also having the boldness to do things differently. That is one huge thing that I have found that ADHD entrepreneurs struggle with so much, because how beautiful is it to just have one system for people to be like, just do this and you'll be fine. And that's so easy and sexy to us because it takes away a lot of the overwhelm. And it gives us a clear thing to follow. But unfortunately, it's just not that easy for us. Sometimes it's not the way that it works. So I forgot my point on that. But really figuring out what could be the ways that I need to do things differently. Like being bold enough to say I know everyone in my industry does sales calls and that's the only way they do it. But sales calls really kick out the energy in me and I don't want to do that. I don't want to have to recharge after every call. So I'm just going to do things differently. And sometimes we need that boldness to be able to like this doesn't make sense for a lot of people and I don't see other people doing this, but I'm going to do it because it fits me, it's going to serve me better. Okay, it's so important for you to just be able to advocate and let me remind you that you are the CEO, you are the head honcho of your business. So you get to determine how you want it run, you get to determine who you want to work with what hours you want to work with what you're going to provide how you're going to provide it when you get to take a vacation, when you get to say you know what, I'm just not up for any calls today, or I'm not up for anything, I'm going to let my clients know, or I'm going to only serve my one on one clients and let everyone else know that I'll be back tomorrow, you get to do that friend, you get to do it. So make sure that you're not trying to run your business, this weird way that you think that you need to run it because this is what you see other people do or because this is just a non negotiable in business like, no, lots of things are up for negotiation. I've had to create my business so tailored to what I need. And it has really, really helped me be happy in my business and not feel like it's draining the life out of me. And also not forgetting why I started my business, for freedom, for freedom to be me, for freedom to help people, freedom to be with my son and my family, and do the things I enjoy outside of my business. That is why I created my business. And I think it's so easy for us to get trapped in the like making money cycle and improving and evolving and you know, serving everything as we can, and forgetting that that's not the point of why we started our business. And it's also not what's going to fulfill us. So this is why I created a one day workshop to teach you my process, my method of how I've helped my clients really mold their business to themselves and still be making the money that they know that they couldn't be making, and not feeling like they need a freaking vacation from their business. Okay? Now, I'm not saying that business is not going to be hard at times, and you're not going to want to jump off a cliff. Because the entrepreneurship game is hard. And being an entrepreneur is difficult. And it's challenging. And there's lots of ups and downs and like anyone that promises you that you won't have to go through that is just like, because at any income level, there's going to be ups and downs. But there are ways to make sure that you have more ups and downs, and that your downs are not as shitty. Because when I did not have alignment in my business, man, I had lots of downs, way more downs and ups. And the downs that I had were much harder to figure out because it's like, well, how do I tell this client now that like, actually, this isn't working for me that that actually I want to like hide every time our call is supposed to happen, because I just like I'm not feeling it. Okay, so you really have to take the time to not just figure out your sales strategy and your marketing plan and your content plan. All that stuff is really important too. But it is absolutely for no reason. If you don't have alignment to your business, if you are creating a business for perfect Suzy to run, but not for you to run, okay, stop trying to be a perfectionist, stop trying to do things like everyone else is doing. Or leaving out your needs, your personality, your capability, because you feel like that's what you're supposed to do. Okay. In my workshop, I'm going to show you exactly how you can align your business to your brain. And we're going to be going through some of the mindset things that are important to have, like, especially with our relationship with our ADHD brain, because that's very important, then we're also going to be talking about the nine areas of alignment for you to align your brain to your business, okay, there's nine areas and so we're gonna be diving deep into those and you're gonna know exactly how you can align yourself in that area. And then we're going to be talking about some of the foundational business things that you need. And this is like covering niche or messaging, your branding, your mission planned, your elevator pitch, some of those technical things, because I think they're still very important to talk about because it is very foundational for you to have and I feel like a lot of ADHD entrepreneurs get stuck figuring those things out. So I want to help you kind of have a framework for how you're going to do that. And then lastly, just some ADHD hacks for running a business with an ADHD brain. I have found lots of those as I trial and error and figure things out. So I'm going to share some of my top ADHD hacks with you so that you can really feel like you are in the driver's seat and you can be the CEO of your dreams that you want. So that's what my workshop is going to be about. I would love to have you. There is going to be a one day workshop on April 20, we're gonna put up the vote it'll be either at 1pm CST or 3pm Cst. So I think that's like either seven or 9pm. UK time. And then for Australian, I think it's either like four or six in the morning. Sorry, the timezone thing is so annoying. But yes, it is going to be that one day workshop. And so here's what it's going to include, okay, three weeks of support. I know, I know, lots of people tend to do a workshop, and then they're like, alright, that's it, goodbye, folks. Not me because I know, ADHDers need that extra support. And you know what else I know, I know that ADHD entrepreneurs need community, we need that hive mind to be able to bounce ideas, because we are really good at ideas, remember, so how amazing is it to be able to be in a room with other bad as ADHD entrepreneurs where we're all just feeding off of each other. We're all just bouncing ideas and getting so much clarity as someone else talks, you start to get clarity for yourself. It's really amazing. So that's what I've facilitated through this workshop. So you're gonna have three weeks of support in the pop up Facebook group. And I'm going to also have some amazing co mentors that I am bringing on to really help support you. So it's going to be awesome, and they're going to be leading some extra brainstorming sessions. So apart from the one day workshop, you are also getting three live brainstorming sessions to hop on and implement and actually work through the workbook and work through some of the things that you learned in the workshop. So there's gonna be lots of space for you to implement here, okay, it's not just going to be like, show up. And then now I'm left alone to figure this out, nope, you got three weeks to figure it out. Three weeks of support, and like laser focus of really carving out some of these amazing strategies for your business, so that you can start thriving in your business friend, okay, it's also going to include as a bonus, my ADHD workflow Trello board that I use to really help me pinpoint some of the things, some of the patterns and that helps with time management, managing your business around your cycle, and like a few other things. And so there will be a replay for the workshop, of course, and it'll, then you'll have lifetime access to that in the portal of like, upload everything. And then of course, the workshop is not going to be your boring, like Jessi sits in front of the camera and talks to us for two hours. Nope, that's definitely not my style, it's going to be very interactive. So it's gonna be on Zoom, it'll be interactive, there will be like a little slideshow because visuals. And the best part, we will be breaking up into breakout rooms, so that you can like start chewing and talking through some of these things. And then we'll have breakout rooms for some of the work that you need to do. So you'll actually get to Phil through your blueprint on the call with us and get clarity for any of your questions and overcome some of those blocks. So it's gonna be really awesome, but also really fun, because we will have breakout rooms and you'll get to meet other ADHD entrepreneurs and shoot, maybe you'll end up working with some like working together on things. So that is the amazing how to align your business to your brain workshop. It is only 220. And if you're wondering like, oh my gosh, that's a lot for a workshop. Hello, did you hear everything that includes? It's not just your ordinary workshop, is what I'm trying to say. There's lots of support here, lots of community. And if you've never been through one of my trainings, then that's probably why you're so confused. Because I'm good at what I do. I'm a good teacher. And the workbook in and of itself is extremely valuable like that there covers a cost. But you're not getting that you're getting my expertise, my support, my co mentor support and three weeks of a community support and other brainstorming sessions so that you can actually get it done. Because I know we tend to just want to consume information, but then never do anything with that information. Yeah, no, not in my programs, you're going to have the space and the accountability. I mean, there's already been some accountability partners that have already been set up. So it's going to be really amazing, I know that you're going to really enjoy it. I'm not sure if I'm going to offer this again. And if I do, it probably won't be live. So if you want this at a cheaper price, but it's not gonna be live and not as amazing, as I just mentioned, then you could wait until I make it just like a little recording of the workshop. But if you want the three weeks of a fun Facebook group where everyone gets to, like help each other out, then you are going to love this. I'm telling you, you don't have to keep running your business like someone else and you also don't have to spend and like crack your brain open trying to figure out how to do that when I have my method and system that like clearly walks you through step by step of how to figure that out and then you're like, oh my goodness, this this is the way I should be running my business. This is The way I need it this whole time. And then you can see how you can scale and grow your business so easily. Because you've removed all of those other ways that you thought you had to do things. And you found one narrow path that you're like this, this makes sense for me. So that is what I want to share with you kind of give you a little sneak peek of what it looks like to align your business to your brain. But I'd love to have you in that workshop. So go ahead and go to the show notes. So you can sign up. Like I said, I probably won't be doing this again. And yes, it is at a crazy low price for all of the value you're getting. I know that. But this is my first workshop that I'm putting out. So I had to make it juicy for you guys. So go ahead and visit the show notes so you can sign up and we are going to be doing rewards and teams. So there's definitely some gamified elements to it. So many of you have never done a workshop before and you want to ever offer them this is even a good opportunity to learn from me of how I'm running one for ADHD ears because there's lots of strategy that has gone into place for that. So I hope that that really served you and that got your juices flowing and you got some good things to think about. So hopefully I will see you guys at my workshop. I am gonna put down a little discount code for the podcast listeners there. All right, but that is pretty much what I have for you. Okay, I'll see you at the next one.
